Family Discussion

Our aim is for both parents and kids to discover Jesus through the true stories of the Bible. We’re all about loving God, loving the Church, and loving the World. Our hope is to equip, connect, and encourage parents on their incredible journey of discipling their children!

Use this resource to engage in discussion with your family throughout the week!

Family Discussion Questions

  1. Read John 6:1-14. How did God use something small for something big?
  2. Why do you think God chooses to use ordinary people instead of always using kings or superheroes?
  3. What is something small you have (a gift, talent, or kind action) that God can use to help others?
  4. What is one ordinary thing you could do this week that God might use in a big way? As a family?

Application Activity

BLESSING BASKET. Fill a basket (or similar container) with simple items (e.g. crackers, a small loaf of bread, a few coins, notes with kind words). As a family, review John 6:1-14 and talk about how the boy gave his small lunch and Jesus did something amazing. Challenge each family member to add one thing they can “offer” this week to help others (e.g. a kind word, time, helping with chores). Pray together, asking Jesus to use your small acts to bless others.

Memory Verse

“God is able to do far more than we could ever ask for or imagine. He does everything by His power that is working in us.” -Ephesians 3:20, NIrV
